Player or Coach? Is Sam Hutchinson On The Comeback Trail?

Last month we reported that Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson may have been on the comeback trail after being spotted in training.

After retiring from professional football due to injury, Sam has still been involved with the club in a coaching capacity but signs that he may still have the hunger for something more continue.

Last night the talented defender captained the Chelsea reserves against Blackburn Rovers playing the whole game and turning in a strong performance.

The club described his appearance as part of his work towards his coaching badges but this does not ring true and nothing would make me happier to see Sam officially come out of retirement and find himself in contention for a first team place.

If anyone knows the true story of Sam’s plans please let us know, however in the meantime keep up the good work Sam, we are all rooting for you.

Why Chelsea should Resist the Urge to Overpay On Deadline Day

There is no doubt that Chelsea would benefit from the purchase of a creative player in the mould of Luka Modric we should not pay a king’s ransom to secure his services from an unwilling Tottenham side.

The club has been burnt before on deadline day and having had two months to take care of business it is not sustainable for the club to pay the deadline day premium for Modric, Pereira  or any other player that the club suddenly takes a shine to on deadline day.

I for one hate the transfer deadline process, the recruitment of players should be finished before the start of the season and am fed up of clubs jacking up the price the moment Chelsea show an interest in a player and us foolishly paying.

This year will be one of transition for Chelsea and we will need signings in the future to build the next Chelsea generation but this need to be done for the right players on our terms.

I cannot wait for the window to close and everyone start paying attention to what is happening on the pitch.

Heres To A Great Start To The Season

Three games in and our performances have not been hugely inspiring with two labouring home victories against teams at the other end of the table and a creditble away draw against Stoke.

In a paradoxical sense these poor performances are encouraging as we have ground out three decent results despite not performing at our best.

With the arrival of Juan Mata, we should have more of a cutting edge up front and the side should settle down and the more impressive performances and results will come.

The only downside so far has been the injuries to Didier Drogba and Petr Cech but we should be able to compete without these players even if Henrique Hilario has had a mixed start to the campaign.

All things considered good start to the season in my book!

Finally A Signing: Welcome Juan Mata

Chelsea have signed Juan Mata from Valencia, to the relief of fans as we finally have signed a player capable of playing wide to add pace and urgency to our attack, something that has been obviously lacking in our first two games of the season.

After a summer of waiting we have dipped into the transfer market with some weight, buying the type of player that we desperately need.

The Spanish World Cup winner is a player that has attracted the attention of a host of Premier League clubs and it is about time we showed some of our klout to outpace our rivals in the transfer market and get the players we desire.

As a left winger, I hope that he will embed seamlessly into our side, giving us more impetus in attack and a supply of dangerous balls into Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba.

The most at risk of from his arrival is Florent Malouda who despite scoring at the weekend, does not provide the high energy displays required for our current formation.

Finally a signing of note, hopefully we can get one more before the window slams shut.
