John Terry – There is Only One England Captain

Chelsea fans have always known as the song goes that there is only one England captain, however it seems that with Rio Ferdinand able to play as many games as Owen Hargreaves this season that the farce of the revolving England captaincy is likely to be resolved.

The rumours are rife that John Terry is set to be restored as England captain in what would be an overdue return to sanity for Fabio Capello and England.

After the 2006 World Cup saw John Terry elevated to captain of the national side, I was always so proud to say that Chelsea’s captain was the England captain and devastated that the defenders personal life stopped him from captaining his country at the World Cup.
I just hope that the rumours are true and the Bridge can rightfully boast that there is indeed only one England captain.

“Jog on you Tangerine!” Chelsea Football FanCast #150

DOWNLOAD IT LIKE ITS HOT

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside! The boys discuss the win against plucky Blackpool on a cabbage patch, and ask “Do we believe???” All this plus more terrace songs, Bjarne Goldbaek in DLBIA, Dear Mart and You’re on CFFC.

Chidge, ChelTel, Dr Mart and the Celery Terrorist discuss Chelsea’s win against Blackpool. Can Drogba and Torres play together? Should Drogba ‘Man Up’ and will he be off in the summer? Why Chelsea stop playing when they go 1-0 up? Is Kalou really a super-sub, and most of all who was wearing Luiz wigs and… do we believe Chelsea can win the title???

As always we award our Man and Chant of the Match and Guinness and Celery moments from the games, and after that we have a seaside flavoured “We’re out to Show the World the Way to Sing”

In this week’s “Don’t Look Back in Anger” we look back with fond memories on another Chelsea player from the past – this week Bjarne Goldbaek.

Dr Mart is in the surgery to answer your Chelsea questions in “Dear Mart” and finally, we read out the best posts of the week in “You’re on CFFC”.

Picklive Preview: Chelsea v Man United (Sponsored)

For those of you thought that fantasy football was something that you entered at the start of the season and then go bored of by Christmas – think again. Imagine if the games lasted only five minutes, and you could be wining cash prizes in real-time.

To get started simply visit  PICKLIVE during tonight’s games and sign-up for a free trial. By picking the three players who you think will contribute the most to the action within a five minute period,  you could be winning cash prizes throughout tonight’s match.

To help you on your way, here is some friendly insiders advice from Pickive:

Top Chelsea Pick:Michael Essien

Perceived media wisdom states that if United avoid defeat this evening, then they could well be Champions. The upshot of that is clear; United will make the game as tight, tense and downright scrappy as possible – leaving the Ghanian powerhouse embroiled in a real midfield dogfight. It is in games like this that Essien is at his best, breaking up play and roaring into tackles. He should be one of Chelsea’s top Picklive performers tonight.

Top United PickWayne Rooney

The Rooney of the last two weeks has been unrecognisable from the frustrated and lethargic figure that came back from South Africa. Not only is he back amongst the goals but he once again seems to be the creative hub of this United side. Playing just off Berbatov I imagine, his willingness to drop deep to collect the ball should see him influence the game greatly.

One to Avoid

Fernando Torres

Whereas Rooney is clambering steadfastly out of a rut, Torres remains well and truly in one. There were green shoots of recovery against Copenhagen, however he is a shadow of the man who has terrorised United in the past. Drained completely of pace and confidence, an in form Vidic should be able shackle him out of the game. (eChelseaFC does not agree I think he is someone you should back)
